Can you explain what the dove release
from your wedding and the crystals symbolize
on the chuppa?
What did the white roses, willow bark and
butterflies represent?
Thanks,
Katie
Hello Katie,
What great questions! I am so glad you
asked. As I mentioned on my news page,
everything in the ceremony represented
something. But since you asked about
specific items, this is what was written in
our program for our guests to read and
observe as they witnessed the ceremony.
"Symbols have been carefully woven into your
surroundings to make this moment very
special. Take a moment to notice… "
White Roses - Native American cultures see
the white rose as representing security and
happiness.
Willow Tree Chuppah - The Celtic meaning of
the Willow tree has a long history of
symbolism related to the metaphysical. It is
the tree most associated with healing,
enchantment, dreaming, intuition, and love.
It is used in ceremonies intended for
enhancement of psychic abilities, honoring
the moon as well as increasing the essence
of love in our lives. The Willow is one of
the few trees that can bend without
breaking. This is a powerful metaphor to
adjust with the challenges of life rather
than to fight them. The Willow has an
amazing ability to not only survive, but
thrive in some of the most challenging
conditions.
Monarch Butterflies- The Monarch butterflies
symbolize a re-birth and as are worldwide
symbols of peace, understanding and beauty.
Monarchs are also symbols of an indomitable
spirit that allows them to travel long
distances over rough terrain to a place they
have never been before.
White Doves- The White Dove has been a
symbol of peace and safety since ancient
times. Primary symbolic meaning of doves
stem in ancient cultures due to their
voices. The dove’s cooing has lulled the
ears of humanity for hundreds of years, and
as such is equated to comfort and
reassurance. Gypsy folklore believes that
Doves are soft, subtle messengers - winging
their messages of love to our hearts from
the spirit world.
Colorless crystals - open the door of
perception; bring unity with the Universe
and transcendental love.
Thank you for your question! I do love to
talk about my wedding!
Love and light,

I have a question regarding the
way that you sing the ending to The
Village Lanterne. On the Paris Moon
concert video the ending is one of the
most moving pieces that I have ever
heard. I think that I have worn out the
dvd playing the song.
But on the CD and other places that the
song is performed the ending is
different. I was just curious why the
ending is different with the concert. At
some point will you perform the concert
ending on a single song?
Bless you and the whole group for
bringing such wonderful music into the
world.
Rich Ackerman
Hi Rich,
Thanks for your question and compliment!
As you probably know, we do have a
tendency to change bits and pieces as a
live setting is so much different than a
cd. So, we came upon the ending for
Village Lanterne which is now a very
dramatic ending point for us for that
song. We always do the "live" ending
whenever you see us in concert and we
play that song. But, chances are slim
that we will revisit it and rerecord it
on a cd except for being able to hear it
on "Paris Moon". We have a tendency to
keep moving forward and not really
revisit what we have done in the past.
Maybe someday we will rerecord some
songs that we have "reinvented" since we
recorded them. But for right now, you
will only be able to hear the new ending
of Village Lanterne live or on Paris
Moon. Enjoy....
Love and light,
Candice
Hello Candice,
I've been wanting to write you for about
three years, but haven't for a couple of
reasons. They are: what can I say that
others haven't said, and maybe you won't
write back. Well, here it goes.
I took my wife, son, and daughter-in-law to
Charlotte Nov.1 for the Blackmore's Night
show. We didn't dress in garb, but I was
surprised at the large number who did. I'm
not one to do anything to get noticed, but
I've decided that next time we will dress
up.
The concert was outstanding! The sound was
just right and you were in perfect voice. I
left the show in awe of your singing. You
are more beautiful in person than on the
dvds and in pictures. The whole band did a
great job. I am waiting on the next cd. I
recognized your mother and was able to meet
her. I saw Albert too and spoke to him. When
you looked into the audience to try and see
your Dad, I looked back and saw a man
grinning shyly as if he was trying to hide.
Does your Dad have a beard that is mostly
grey?
I know Charlotte loves Blackmore's Night and
the audience enjoyed the concert, but they
didn't participate as much as those on the
dvds. I'll stop rambling and ask the
question. Is Charlotte on your list of
places to play again? It's not necessary to
put this on your website unless you want to.
I just want to know if you plan to come
back.
With Love,
James
Hello James,
So glad you were able to come to the
Charlotte show. Its always special there
because of the family connection... This
year my sister flew to Chicago for her
birthday to come to the show; my parents
flew to Charlotte to see us and my brother
and sister and of course our New York City
or Long Island shows are always filled with
friends and family! Funny though, my father
doesn't have a beard. He's always clean
shaven, though I am sure I did embarrass him
because he likes to remain in the shadows.
He had been asking us to play Spirit of The
Sea for many years as it is his favorite
song that we have written, but we never play
it in concert! Finally I got Ritchie to do a
bit of it for him so I needed to dedicate it
to him for his years of begging us to play
it live!
Charlotte is always on our places to play.
The warm hospitality of the people, the
wonderful city and surrounding nature, and
as you mentioned: so many people dressing up
converting the theater into our own
Renaissance faire! It's always a wonderful
time...
Hope you're brave enough to dress up next
time and be part of the fun! Kisses to your
wife and family!
Love and light,
Candice

Are YOU a horse person, you look like
someone who appreciates a great horse from
the video's.
George C
PS: Can't wait for the Orlando Show
Hi George,
I have a great love and respect for horses.
When I was 9 I was thrown off a horse named
"Fiasco". I learned quickly what that word
meant.... Since then I have loved horses,
but from afar. I would feed them and pet
them but it took me quite a while to get
back on one. As you probably saw we have
some amazing horses in our videos "Way To
Mandalay" and "Locked Within The Crystal
Ball". Even going back to the 1st song I
co-wrote that Rainbow used : "Ariel". The
horse in that was incredible as well. These
days occasionally, I will ride a bit.
Usually while visiting the deserts of the
Arizona. However, I took some horse back
riding lessons with my father over the
summer. I am really in awe of them.
Hope you enjoyed the Florida show!
Love and light,
Candice

Hi Candice
My family (wife and 9 year old son) and I
are coming into NY on Thursday to see you
and the band and are so looking forward to
it. I heard recently on an interview that
you formally worked at a radio station on
LI. I was just wondering which station that
was?
I work at Cox Radio, CT which owns WEZN and
WPLR among others in the area. Cox Radio
also owns WBAB and WBLI on LI and was
curious is either one of those the stations
you worked at?
I have been a longtime fan of Blackmore’s
Night and am so excited that I will finally
see the band live. Take care and have a
great show in the city!
Brian Wall
Ps. We recently adopted 2 kittens from a pet
store that was sponsoring an Adopt-a-cat
day. They are both males (named Dunder &
Mifflin, we’re big fans of the TV show The
Office) and are so adorable.
Hi Brian,
Hope you and your family enjoyed the NYC
show! Yes, its true I did work at a radio
station for 1 yr and a half back from
1989-1991 when I left Long Island to move up
to Connecticut with Ritchie. And you are
correct it was one of "your" radio stations.
Actually, it was WBAB. I was there in the
days of Tracy Speed, Bob Buchmann, Roger
Luce, Gerry Martir and Ralph Tortora. Many
have moved on from there by
now....Interesting days....
Have a great holiday!
Love to your family,
Candice
