Between Us

January 2006

"If you have a question for me, enter this room. It exists just for us. A place for you to come to ask me whatever you wish. A chance for us to get closer. Share your thoughts, tell me your story, ask me your questions.  They will be answered."

Dear Candice,

Reading your story and seeing how you are happy with the man youl love, I keep wondering: my marriage is over (it was not a good marriage after all). I am 45 years old, I used to be pretty, but now I am alone since the divorce (2001), and every man who I met those years were younger then me and only interesting in my money ( and I am not rich, at all).

I always think, can be true that I will not find the real love?
I am not that old. I feel you are a wise and enlighted creature, please, answer this e-mail, sending your light and tenderness care to me, and I will be sure that something wonderful is going to happen in my life. I still have hope to find a sincere man to love and be loved. Anyway, to be happy as you are. For now, only to watch the DVD "CASTLE AND DREAMS", I keep on dreaming with a love like you and Richie have for each other. Will I find my happiness?
God Bless you dear Candice, I think of you as a person of my own family.

Love and hope,

Lidia

Dear Lidia,
If you were not in a good marriage then it is a good thing that you are not in it anymore. Of course it hurts for a long while when you have to start again. But the wonderful thing is that you are starting again instead of wasting more time on someone who didn't deserve you. It doesn't matter what age you are or if you fit into what this shallow, plastic, superficial world deems as "pretty". "Pretty" defies definition. It could be the sparkle in your eyes, the way you toss your hair or your laughter. ""Pretty" comes from the heart, not the outside. And it seems to me that you already have that...Your words are of one who is sensitive, searching and caring. That is more beautiful and intriguing than 1,000 women who are in magazines who look like cardboard cut outs of everyone else in those same magazines. "Pretty" os what you have to offer the world, what you have to offer life and what you will be offering in a new relationship...when you are ready.

Sometimes, I think, the soul knows when the time is right much more than the hearts longing or the mind's desire. When you feel it deep from with in about a person they will pesent themselves to you and the time will be perfectly right for you. But right now you are still healing. Take this valuable time to know yourself, your new beginnings and the start of a new adventure. Take road trips with friends, start a hobby, dance beneath the moonlight. Most of all- do what makes your heart sing. And laugh...the greatest healer. Be only around people that make you feel good. And when you are alone, learn...about what is around you...about what is within you. I am sorry that you went through such a hard time and had such a bad experience, but I am so proud of you that you are strong enough to walk away. That inner strength is a beautiful gift. It is always there for you...whether you feel it at the moment or not. Its just a matter of tapping into it.

You are not old, and you know what? Even if your years were many...it still doesn't make you old. I have met 20 year olds that are 60! And 80 year olds that are 16. It really does come from within. In my realm I choose not to believe in age... you can do the same. Why should we be dictated to by numbers? What is "accepted" , what we should think, wear , drive? No thank you...I would rather dictate to myself...not by boundaries set by outside influences. Because at the end of the day, it doesnt matter what "they " think. But it matters all the world what YOU think.

As far as Ritchie and myself, I find that a relationship is like a garden. It can be so beautiful and make you feel so alive, but it is also work. If you don't weed the garden, there are outside influences that will strangle your flowers! So, we make sure that doesnt happen...

And, dear Lidia, I am not enlightened, just a woman as you are. But as women we have intuition, deep spiritual powers, we are naturally nurturing creatures at one with the earth and the moon. Feel that magical energy and rest well knowing that when you are ready your love will appear to you. But also live every moment happy to be alive! Breathe in the fresh air! Listen to the birds and make each moment your own until your love does come. That way no precious time is wasted on sadness.
And know that I am thinking of you...
Much love and light always,
Candice

Dear Candice

Having heard the mini Christmas CD accompanying Beyond the Sunset, I wondered if you had ever thought of producing an album with all the old carols and songs from centuries back, in true medieval style. I just love your arrangement of O Come, O come Emmanuel (which is a great favourite advent hymn of mine), and We Three Kings, and thought that to have an entire album of material like that would really convey the Christmas spirit of old.

I do so enjoy your music and look forward to seeing you on your next European tour. Lots of love to you and the rest of the band and I hope you all have a very happy Christmas and New Year.

Veronica Howard

Hello Veronica.
Funny you should mention that. We are planning on recording one this year for release at the end of 2006. We have had such a great reception to the 3 songs that we did record, including Christmas Eve entering at #38 on the adult contemporary Billboard charts for December 28th, 2005, that we have decided it is time to make a complete Holiday album.
As the information about the songs and release date becomes clearer, I'll let you all know.

Thanks for you letter.
Love and light and Happy 2006!
Candice

Hello Candice,

I am an American living in Denmark & I thought I would take the time to tell you how much your music means to me. I sat in the first row for your last concert in Copenhagen & I think your voice just gets stronger & stronger every time I see you. I would really love to see Blackmore’s Night in a castle setting here in Denmark. I have been going to Renaissance Faires since I was 16 years old & I kind of miss them here in Denmark. I absolutely love all of Blackmore’s Night’s music but “Ghost of a Rose” will always be my favorite because I heard you sing that for the first time in concert here in Denmark, before the album came out. I was completely transported by that song & every time I play that CD when I am driving I remember the moment when I first heard you sing it. I am looking forward to “The Village Lantern” at the beginning of next year & I am hoping for more interpretive songs from you like the amazing rendition of “Diamonds & Rust”. Keep spreading your love & light throughout the world & come back to Denmark soon.

p.s. Is Dragsholm Castle really haunted?

Christiana

Hello Christiana,
We had such a great time in Denmark! As a matter of fact the band photo that you will see in the next album, Village Lanterne, was taken at Dragsholm Castle. If you know of a castle that has concerts in Denmark, please let me know because, as you know, playing castles are our favorite venues. I think that the songs deserve that setting and the castle helps to transport the fans, the band, all as one back to another time. Something which is not as natural for a theater setting to accomplish. Ghost of a Rose means so many different things to so many people, its always interesting for me to hear what the song means to people and why it is there favorite. Many people request this song. I'm glad that it means so much to so many...

Yes, Dragsholm Castle is haunted, but so many places are. It isn't anything to be afraid of and its certainly not what Hollywood makes it out to be. It, to me, is comforting knowing that there are so many parallels that we should be aware of. Even scientifically everything is multidimensional, so why not time? Why not our spirits after leaving this time moving to the next stage...the next plain? Not everything is explainable in our limited vocabulary. We know that even from when we try to explain feelings that we are having ...you can't really put an intense feeling into words. But we try... I always believe in the realm of possiblilty... Just because I havent seen it doesnt mean it doesnt exist. You can't see love...but you know its there...

As a matter of fact we did a seance last time we were at Dragsholm and communicated with a spirit who called himself "Big Man." The next day our Japanese record company representative flew in. He has always told us he could see ghosts. I myself have seen quite a few...I keep that knowledge to myself usually... Anyway, when we asked if the Record Company Representative saw any ghosts at that moment at Dragsholm he sad he did. We asked him if he could describe what he saw to us and he said that there was a "big man" standing in the corner. We hadn't previously mentioned anything about a seance to him before that.
Keep believing...and spreading your love and light too...
Always,
Candic

Dear Candice,
My name is Susi and I am from Germany.
I visited your concert this year in Kranichfeld/ Germany ( maybe you remember?!) and it was great!!! That's why I don't want to ask you something, I just wanted to tell you and your band that I love your music very much!!!
My dad is music freak and he allways listened to Deep Purple and Rainbow.
About two years ago i began playing the guitar. When I was practising the song Greensleaves my dad came in with "Shadow Of The Moon" and told me to listen to number 14. So I did and from that day the only cd's that came into my cd player were from BLACKMORE'S NIGHT!!!

Now, two years later, I actually have all your cd's except "All For One", but i will get this one, too.

All in all I can say that your music is just great and ithelps me to go into another world when I feel bad! ( Actually I also listen to your music when I feel good. I listen it allways and everywhere!!! )
But there came a question to me while I was writing. When will your new album be released and will you go on German tour next year?
Thanks for being just CANDICE!!!

Love and 1000 kisses from Susi
J

Hello Susi,
Thank you for your sweet words. You have the same name as my sister! Did you know?
I'm so glad that our music is able to transport you to another world...that is exactly what we are trying to accomplish so thank you for joining us on the journey.

To answer your question: our next album will be called the Village Lanterne and should be out in Germany in February of 2006. Of course we will be back in Germany for the summer of 2006. I wouldn't miss it for the world... We are working on tourdates right now and as soon as they are confirmed I promise you they will be posted on the tourdates page of blackmoresnight.com so that you can see exactly where we'll be...
Thank you for being you Susi...

Love and 1000 kisses back to you...
Candice

Dear Ms. Night,

Hello. My partner, Linda, and I have been fans of Blackmore's Night for quite some time. We have all of your cds, videos, and the new dvd - which we really enjoy. We are looking forward to your new cd! We enjoy your music on many different levels. Linda is a Physical Therapist for the Philadelphia hospitals and is always stressed at her job - Blackmore's Night music always helps to calm her down. I work for NJ State Government - that stifles any creativity! We are both Reiki Masters ( I do Reiki on our cats) and I am Roman Catholic/Wiccan ( I studied with Laurie Cabot in Salem, Massachusetts). We don't always get the chance but we love to dress up and go to Sterling Forest, NY Renaissance Festival and have also gone to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Massachusetts Festivals. We try to create home for ourselves and our cats that is quiet and healing and live a life that is and I hate to use the phrase but here goes, "new age". So your music really holds a special place for us.

Linda never dreamed that she would ever see you in concert, so for Christmas/Yule I got tickets for her to see you and Mr. Blackmore in Lakewood, NJ and Collingswood, NJ last Friday and Saturday night - as we live close by in Trenton, NJ. What a great time we had in Lakewood - the Geyers were so much fun and I got to meet them during intermission. Your Christmas carols were fantastic as was your Blackmore's Night set - it was electric. As for Saturday, I know people loved Mr. Blackmore's work in Deep Purple - I did too, it's legend - but as Ozzy Osbourne will always be associated with Black Sabbath, Mr. Blackmore will always be associated with Deep Purple and Rainbow. It's a double edged sword, as they say. All I can say is that I hope you do not hold it against those of us from New Jersey that have manners and are respectful of an artist as opposed to those idiots that were so rude to you and Mr. Blackmore. Please come back to New Jersey in 2006.

I wish you and Mr. Blackmore, a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.

Sincerely,
Karen

PS: I have to ask, where can we obtain the Geyers cds as they were sold of them at the concerts.

Hello Karen,
You and Linda sound like very interesting people...and on a wonderful path of helping others but in a genuinely heartfelt and caring way as was done in the "old days". That path of helping others is a strssful one, but incredibly rewarding when you realize all the good that you are doing! And to have the background, open mindedness and understanding that you do... is an amazing gift. You both sound very special.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the show in Lakewood. We flew the Geyers over specially to perform for those 3 shows. They are an amazing group and it is so rare to hear music so organic, so different, these days. Especially in the American market. So I guess you cold say that flying them over was Ritchie's gift to the US fans. A chance to experience something that they would never have heard of before.

As you may know, Ritchie performed on one of the Geyers tracks called: Göttliche Devise. It is a realy amazing solo on a great track that I know you will enjoy. Our favorite Geyers albums to listen to around the house are All Voll and Die Erste, although all the albums are very good. As a matter of fact, the title track to All Voll is a song that we have adopted the melody line of and changed into a song called World of Stone which will be on our new album: The Village Lanterne coming out early 2006.

Here is the link to purchase Geyers cds. Their official website is in English as well.
Thanks for the kind words and I hope you had a wonderous New Year.
Love and light,
Candice
