My dear Candice,

I'm Francesca from Italy. I'd like to congratulate with you for your
wonderful music.

I started some weeks ago playing the flute to play all my favourite songs of
yours and I'd like to buy a shawm (in italian, is "ciaramella"). I was in Milan
during your last tour in Italy and I LOVED the version of "the Clock ticks on"
you played there!!! In which tune is the shawm you play on the stage? Because I
Know there is the type in G or the type in D, but I don't know the difference
between them!!! I would like to have your advice and your opinion.

I really hope you will answer me ...

Hope to see you soon again, maybe in a castle!!!
Love,
Francesca

Hello Francesca!
I'm so glad that you liked the show. Perhaps you will come to Germany to see us play as we are performing in a number of castles there. The shawm that I play in Clock Ticks On is a c major scale shawm. But you are right, it is difficult to find shawms in certain keys. That one was made for me by an English shawm maker who has since passed on. Different shawms have different scales and it sometimes is easier to play around the melody on a shawm that doesn't fit the scale you are needing exactly- then to find a shawm that will fit it perfectly. Or key changes in the song is another way to accommodate the rigidity of the instrument.
Thanks for your interest! Keep playing!
Love and light,
Candice

Dear Candice,
I don't know how to put this words right to let you see how greatful I am for your music. I will try however:
Music means the world to me, it is the save harbour I can sale to. You know, I am like the odd-one-out. I feel so terribly lonely, because nobody understands me. Nobody even tries to... I am so different to them, I don't fit! Your music helps me dealing with that, your music gives my loneliness a home, a place to hide, a reason to cry, the chance to forget about this totally messed- up world. You take me to that secret place where I belong, where I fit! I often feel like the hate and madness in this world cuts deep wounds, that aren't meant to ever heal again, into my heart. But your music DOES heal me. Your music puts velvet around my heart , your music stops my heart from bleeding to death. When I listen to your music I feel so many things. Love and hope, mystery and wonder, safty and warmth, strength and sadness and so many other things you cannot say in words. Too many things to carry in one little heart. Too many emotions one could be able not to break down under. But I don't brake into peaces, because your music keeps my together at the same time! Of course it hurts, but it is that kind of beautiful pain I couldn't bare to lose. Does this sound VERY strange? It is just that this pain helps me accepting. Accepting MY very personal feelings! How can there be anything more beautiful than music? I get so totally lost in it and it takes me to that place full of mystery and wonder. I do drawings, write poems and play music on my own too. All very strong ways to express your feelings, but music is certainly the most powerful one, because it can say what no word can say and it can put pictures in your head no artist would ever be able to draw! I play the (church) organ and "composed" a few songs and melodies on my own as well. They mean everything to me, because they are mine, they tell stories no words could ever tell about me. My organ- teacher once asked me to play my music to him, but I couldn't, because it would have been like giving one part of my heart away. So I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your courage to share your music with all of us. I don't know how you can manage, but perhaps I am just too afraid that someone might hurt me. I know I shouldn't, but music is such a big thing to me! It just totally takes over me! I was often wondering why that is so. Why can I feel music in such an overwhelming way while others can't even see its beauty? Why can't everybody feel the love you put in every single song while I can? I know this are very difficult questions to answer, but who else could I ask? Who else would understand? Thank you again for l etting me see the world through my heart and not only through my conciousness,
with many tears of sorrow and cheer from Germany,
Regine (17)
PS.: Of course I want to congratulate you to your wedding too! May the love between Richie and you be as sweet, soft and powerful as your melodies are and may it hold for eternity like your songs do! May God keep his hands around your hearts!

Hello dear Regine,
Your letter brings tears to my eyes and touches my heart. I wish I could tell you how many there are who feel alone; who feel the sounds and colors with such dimension that it almost hurts; who love so deeply and truly they feel it in their souls. It is a gift to feel so much. But there are days it can feel like a curse as well. Those who are so sensitive have their finger on the pulse of the heart of other dimensions. They are so open they know the realm of possibility as if it were their own. And they believe... They are our poets, our soothsayers, our painters, our geniuses, our composers and they bestow gifts upon the world and all who know them are better just for knowing them. They open peoples eyes...when those people are ready. Many are not. There are many songs and poems that I do not share because they are "too close". There are many artists who do not share their works because it takes baring your soul to really create and when you do create, it is something that is a part of you and you may not choose to share that part with anyone. That is completely ok. You are very vulnerable when you choose to share something and it puts your innermost feelings out there to be judged. It is very difficult. But if you choose to do that know that there is no wrong or right in your art or your message. Share your beauty and others will breathe that beauty in and those who choose not to will go a different path. Whatever you choose to do, know that you are never alone. You are simply an artist. That is a rare commodity in these times where true art is hardly available and the masses prefer plastic to real soul searching. But when you create- and as an artists soul you will HAVE to because it is in your very being...when you are inspired fly with the wings of a dove and delve into that outlet whether it is playing or another form of creativity. That is your soul in notes, on paper, on canvas... DOn't clip its wings...let it fly!
Much love,
Candice

Hallo Candice!
We are Franziska (15) from Berlin, Germany & Elizabeth (15) from Hamilton, MA.
We hope you are well.
Both of us have all of your CD's, DVD's and all the fan stuff from many concerts & so on ;) , we know all Lyrics by heart-till the year 2007. We fell in love with Peasant's Promise, the Circle, Sister Gypsy and Locked within the Crystal Ball.
Those songs are awesome! And the Locked within the Crystal Ball video is much better than the Village Lanterne video.
Not as good as the Mandalay video (best video ever; we totally loove it :D ), but pretty nice with the Unicorn, and you look very good (as always ;P ). And we have one question: Are you doing any fairy festivals next year? We watched some videos from the Under a violet Moon performance (*favourite song* ;) from 2007 and we loved it.
We hope you'll read this mail and would very happy about a response.
Many greetings from Hamilton & viele Grüße aus Berlin

Elizabeth & Franziska

Hello Elizabeth and Franziska,
I am glad that you are enjoying the music, the new cd and the new video as well as the past ones! Since you have some very strong opinions about our videos, you will be the 1st to know that we are in the process of creating a fan video contest where the fans can create their own videos and submit them to our site to win prizes. When we finalize the guidelines they will be posted on www.blackmoresnight.com   so stay tuned and I hope you will create your own video to our music for us all to enjoy!
By the way, I believe we are looking into playing both of your areas this year. Berlin Germany will be on July 5th and we are looking into dates in the USA around the MA area in October. Check here for up to the minute confirmed dates: http://www.blackmoresnight.com/tour_info.html
I won't be at any Faerie Festivals this year as I will be out of the country on the dates that they are open. But I hope to do more in the future!
Love and light,
Candice

Hello Candice,

I have been a fan of Blackmore's Night music for few years now, I kinda got hooked on the first song I ever heard from you when a friend at work put it on. And I think, that song brand itself into my brain, cuz so far i think its the dearest to me from all your songs. It was Shadow of the Moon, im kinda sucker for the moonlight motives, so the moment i heard it i got the image in my mind and words are pretty powerful also :)

Recently, i got my hands on your last album and i love it, Peasents promise, great song.

I work as a web designer and i cherish the creative moments, not every working moment is creative i guess (most of the bosses doesnt get that ;)), and now when im doing on my own (and on my working time) i find the best creative enviroment night hours and Blackmores Night music. Powerfull combinations, i guess you bring out the best in me :D

In one of those creative moments i decided to make a new fansite in my collection, its hobby of mine. And puff, www.candicenight.net  - its not filled with lots of info cuz its fresh from the oven, but i'll try to keep it updated as much as possible. Ofc, any opinions are very welcome :)

Also, on your new europe tour, any chance that Croatia will be on the list soon maybe?. We have some nice castles for singing too if thats required :)

And also, Gratz on the wedding :)

Greetings from Croatia,
Igor

Hello Igor, Ah, a fellow child of the moon...nice to "meet" you!
What a beautiful job you did on your site! thank you...a lot of work must have gone into that. I will be placing it on my links for others to know of it as well.
We did just play Croatia. And I hope you were able to come and see us perform. It was the 1st gig of the year for us and our 1st stage show as a married couple! The audience was so wonderful...lots of great memories. We stayed in a castle further out from the town of Zagreb where the concert was. Hopefully next time we will be able to play in a castle there as well.
Thanks for your congratulations and for the site!
Love and light,
Candice

Hello Candice,

I notcied a mention of some U.S. tour dates coming in April / May but now they are taken off of the BN website and a summer German tour is listed. As your music is unbelievable to listen to in my car, in my office, at my home and in my head, I want to experience the rare gift of seeing you and Ritchie (and all of the band!) live. Will this dream ever come to fruition or will I need to fly to Europe to see you!

Please answer,

Loni Emmert

Hello Loni,
Thanks for your email and your kind words about our music. Not that coming to Europe to experience the music in a castle would be a bad thing....but for music closer to home...yes we are working on tour dates in the US for the autumn. I can't post anything until they are confirmed but I can promise you they are in the works right now!
Hope to see you at the shows...
Love and light,
Candice
