Hi
Candice!
hope you are well.
I am a great fan of Blackmore's Night and
my future Brother-in -law gave my fiance
and I your Castles and Dreams DVD for Christmas.........we
LOVE it!
A question though......what is the name
of the instrument you play? It sounds fabulous!
Look forward to hearing from you.
Michelle
xx
Hello Michellel,
I am so glad you like the DVD. What I am
playing depends on the song. On Cartouche
and many of the other songs, I am using
my David Marshall Shawm. On All For One
I start with the shawm and later play the
rauschpfife. If you have ever seen us in
concert and watched Fires At Midnight, I
play the Moeck shawm in that song.
Thanks for your question and enjoy!
Love and light,
Candice
Dear Candice
I was wondering what colour your eyes are,
because in some videos you have blue eyes
but in others you seem to have dark eyes?
Whatever they are, they are very beautiful!
On another matter, I've just spent a few days
at a beautfully maintained Elizabethan manor
house in Shropshire, England, called Wilderhope
Manor. And it is in beautufl countryside which
your music captures the spirit of so well.
Maybe one day you will visit it, I'm sure
you will like it.
David Palfreyman
Machester, England. Hello
David,
My eyes are actually a dark blue with gold
around the center. It is a bit strange though
because they seem to change with my emotions,
the weather, even what I am wearing so occaisionally
they will appear a much lighter blue than
they usually are and sometimes they are very
dark depending on my mood. Ritchie often can
tell when I am annoyed because as he says
my eyes "go black". Thanks for noticing
though...
I haven't yet been to Wilderhope Manor but
it sounds beautiful! I will be sure and look
into it for our next visit.
Thank you for your question and for the information!
Love and light,
Candice
Dear Candice
You're an enlightened person to me and I couldn't
think of anyone better
than you to help a very dear person to me...
A friend of mine is going
through a rough time, a very close person
of his family is going to die,
he's just lost, doing all the wrong things...
he's in a misty path and he
feels like he's walking alone through this
path, but he doesn't realise we
are trying to make him see his way... Everything
feels hopeless and I'm
losing my strenght... I wish you could help
us saying wise words... I know
it wouldn't be much, but it would mean a lot
for him, maybe even encourage
him to see that he has the chance to say goodbye,
to enjoy every single last
moment and to have some closure. I know your
words would make a diference because he loves
you as much as I do. Everytime I listen to
your songs and your smoothing voice I feel
charmed, life has changed and that's what
gives me the life to spread BN to every person.
Thank you very much for leading your light
to us.
Farewell
Bia~Full~Moon Dear
Bia Full Moon,
I wish I had some way to heal him or some
magical words to take his pain away. The truth
is that there is no easy way. Words seem to
feel so shallow when there is so much depth
he is going through right now. The good thing
about the knoweldge he has is that he will
have the chance to tell the person everything
he wants to, how much that person means, how
his life has been changed because of the presence.
Many people never get that chance to express
their love and say goodbye- or, not goodbye,
but I will see you again in another time and
place so simply farewell. It will be the hardest
thing in the world for him to overcome for
the moment and he shouldn't be rushed. Everyone
has their own way of dealing with this kind
of deep loss so just be strong and be there.
You needen't say anything at all. Just him
knowing that you are there for him should
be enough. He must travel this misty path
until he is ready for the suns rays to warm
him once again. And even if there are many
around him, ultimately he must do it alone.
But just allow him to have this pain and hopefully
revel in the memories of the good times, appreciate
how much he has been able to share and I believe
that will eventually lead him down the path
of reverie and one day, hopefully very soon,
he will be able to think of that person and
smile again. And the warmth of the gift that
was shared will overcome the pain of the loss
from the moment. Because when you lose someone
I think that that loss is instantaneous...but
the good that is left behind is forever.
I don't know if Ive helped, I don't know if
anyone can with such a heart breaking situation.
But I do know that whomever he loses would
want him to smile and to go on remembering
them with the happiest of thoughts. Not with
the pain that occurs. So, tell him to be strong
for that person. And mourn and grieve- that
is natural. But then the road goes on.
Please give him a long hug for me...
I am sending white and pink light his way...
and my thoughts are with him...
Always,
Candice
Dear Candice;
Greetings, You have a very nice web site.
I have just discovered Blackmores Night and
I wanted to tell you how lovely your voice
is and how great the band sounds. My favorite
song so far is Ocean Gypsy .You singing was
so delicate and ethereal it was beautifully
haunting. Could you tell me if those were
real strings on that recording or if they
were synth? I'm a synth player and I was kinda
curious. Best of luck and many happy times
for you and your bandmates.
Joseph Geswaldo / Syracuse New York
Hello Joseph,
Thanks for writing. Ocean Gypsy was originally
a song that was from the band Renaissance
fronted by Annie Haslam. You should check
out the original sometime... Since Ocean Gypsy
was on our very 1st album, Shadow of the Moon,
we were still kind of feeling our way as far
as instrumentation was concerned. What you
are hearing on that song is keyboard synth
strings- though over the years we have added
more real violin tracks throughout the music.
Even on our latest album, Village Lanterne,
we layer synth pads with real string players
to give it more dimension. But for that specific
song that you asked about- that is a synth
pad.
Love and light,
Candice
Hello Candice,
My name is Katka or Katarina
it is in your language Kate. I am 19 years
old. I come from Slovakia. It is the small
country in the heart of Europe.
Could you excuse my English, please?
I love your songs. They are wonderful. It
is very difficult for me to
choose the one song from so many songs and
say which is my favorite or
best. I love every song. I would like to
ask you, where so beautiful
dresses, which you wear, come from. And
I would like to know lyric of the
song The Times They Are A Changin. This
song has very nice video track.
I hope that you stay a long
time on the stage, yet. It is WRITTEN IN
THE
STARS that people are WAITING JUST FOR YOU
in VILLAGE ON THE SAND. I STILL REMEMBER
that it was ALL BECAUSE OF YOU. That I had
to go HOME AGAIN and listen to the song
RENAISSANCE FAIRE. THE CLOCK TICKS ON and
I will certainly listen to this song AGAIN
SOMEDAY. The world of music is MAGICAL
WORLD.
Thank you for this world.
Love, Kate
Hello Kate,
Your English is very good! Thank you for
your compliments... My dresses come from
different places. I find a skirt here, a
belt there, some Renaissance inspired tops
and put it all together to make the outfits
that you see. The skirts are usually from
Renaissance Faires I have been to. The corsets
I had gotten at a gothic shop! And the tops
at a regular store here. But the most important
thing is to make the outfits reflect your
own individuality...
The Times They Are A Changin' was originally
done by Bob Dylan. Click
here for the full version of the lyrics
to his song, though we didn't use them all.
At least you'll be able to read it in all
its glory!
Thank you for your beautiful poem.... enjoy
the magic of the music!
Love and light,
Candice
