"If you have a
question for me, enter this room.
It exists just for us. A place for
you to come to ask me whatever you
wish. A chance for us to get closer.
Share your thoughts, tell me your
story, ask me your questions. They
will be answered."

First off I hope the winter is treating you, Ritchie,
and little Autumn well.
The weather here in North East Pa has not been to
bad. Here is to hoping it stays that way :)
May of 2011 Blackmores Nights preformed in Stroudsburg, Pa
and due to scheduled conflicts, the wife and I were not able to go.
So we looked at the other shows and found none
we could go to. We were a bit sad about it but
the wife and I have been lucky enough to
have gotten to meet you,
Ritchie, and some of the band a few times at the
Pennsylvania ren faire in Lebanon, Pa
(even got to hear you play "Renaissance Faire" there).
We started to wonder if you went to other faire
and if you did, how often do you get
recognized? Do you always go in garb or do you
sometimes go incognito?
Hopefully we will see the band soon in the
front row with our comfy garb on while the
band rocks on in there own very special way.

Yes we have frequented other faires:
Arizona, Georgia, 3 in Florida, 2 in
Connecticut, upstate NY, Long
Island, as well as over seas. And we
go to them a few times a year.
We ALWAYS wear garb, and anyone
coming with us must dress up as
well.
We usually get recognized before we
even enter through the gates.
And we always perform. Not on a big
stage, or for a large crowd, we
usually sit in a quiet corner,
beneath the shade of a great tree,
break out the instruments and play
for ourselves, our friends and
anyone passing by whether they know
who we are or not.
We are looking forward to
frequenting even more faires in the
years to come!
Love and light,
Dear Candice,
I really love the kind of music you’re
doing! It’s so cool that you’re
playing so many medieval flutes.
I asked you something about your shawm
some years ago,
and now I’m playing it since 5 years J
I wanted to ask you what kind of flute
you’re playing in the song
“Vagabond – Make A Princess Of Me”.
Is that a rauschpfeife? In which vocal
range is your own rauschpfeife (c/f ?)?
And how sounds a cornamuse?
Thanking you in
anticipation and for making wonderful
music,
Marei from Germany J J J
Thank you for your email. On
Vagabond (Make a Princess of Me)
I am playing a gemshorn that was
given to me as a present from
our friend the Minstrel Albert
Danneman. I had wanted to use it
on the cds prior to this one but
we could never find a song that
warranted the soft muted sound.
I finally fought for its place
on this song and won! And am so
glad that I did...I think it has
found its home within the
musical strains of this piece...
My rauschpfeife I used to play
onstage at the end of Clock
Ticks On and All For One before
I replaced it with the bombard.
It is the sound you hear me play
on Ivory Tower. And it is in
c/f, yes. A cornamuse is a more
muted sound.
Like a medieval oboe. Keep playing!
Candice
P.S:
That’s a photo of my shawm…;-)

Dear Candice,
my name is Natalia and I would like to
thank you for all your bright thoughts
on this site, and which you share
through your music.Your reflections
through music and lyrics made open my
mind and I start appreciate more what
surrounds me, including the ceiling
above my head... I'm a student of 22
years old at philology and I have been
in a rush all these years, sitting upon
books and hardly noticing the beauty of
all the things, but when I discovered
your band, it gave me a new point of
view, I stopped for a while and since
then I really started to enjoy the
beauty of the nature: the intense-blue
sky at the beginning of twilight, the
appearance of the first star on the sky
every evening (When I see this morning
star, I instantly recall your melody
"Morning star" and my soul rejoices! ),
and also the moonlight... Earlier this
pleasure was unknown to me and it was
messed up with the daily problems and
duties... But now, reading once again
your reflections, I appreciate every
little thing that occurs around myself.
And your music helps to capture the
magic in the moment, it brings me back
in those dark, but magic times, full of
adventures and chivalry.
I've always loved the medieval
times and its music since my childhood
and I couldn't believe my eyes when I
discovered a Renaissance band in our
times - Blackmore's Night! It is
amazing...
I
share your opinion that the most music
of nowadays is so annoying - most of it
promotes indecency, the same theme
echoes in all the lyrics...
Your music has
something special, heavenly, it makes me
remain in it even when I don't listen to
it, it plays round and round in my head
- I love it really very much - all of
the songs, especially "Home Again",
"Spirit of the sea" and "Far far Away"
and of course, "The
Times They Are Changing".
May I
ask, the song "Far Far Away" - about who
is this song? Your Renaissance costumes
are wonderful, they perfectly fit your
personality and underline your beauty!
I am
eager to see what you will share with
the us in the future! But for now, your
albums I keep as a treasure.
Thank you
for your pure music! I hope to see you
touring with Ritchie in Romania too!
I'll make this wish under the first star
appearing on the sky!
Thank you for your beautiful thoughts
and words. You truly are a kindred
spirit. And Romania is a place I have
never been to but always wanted to go
to...perhaps some day... We have dear
friends from your country.
The thing about "Far Far Away" is that I
didn't write the lyrics of that song. A
close friend of ours wrote it and we
fell in love with it and asked
permission to record it. Though
sometimes I do believe that you don't
need to write a song to "own" it in some
capacity. Not that a song could ever be
"owned" ...it is its own magical and
free willed spirit entity...bewitching
and entrancing those that are lucky
enough to hear and feel deeply its call
within their soul. Still a song could be
yours no matter who has composed or
written it. If you feel what its message
is, if you have experienced its
sentiment or known someone who has, if
you have dreamt its dream or felt its
hope then it is yours and your are the
songs as well. Having said that, Far Far
Away is, as any song is, a bit about me,
you, those we have known...all of us and
none of us at the same time. I'm not
trying to be evasive, just being honest
about the magic message, understanding
and wisdom that songs impart to us all.
Don't you feel that way too?
Hi Candace!
I am taking vocal lessons, and I have been searching high and low to find
some sheet music for your songs to do a
cover. The merchandise store on the
Blackmore's Night website is closed, and I
can't find anything anywhere else. Is there
any way you can help me? Your music has
been such an inspiration to my vocal style
ever since I first heard "Ghost Of A Rose".
Thank you so much. I will continue to
follow you and your gorgeous magickal music
always.
Love And Blessings,
Jess Stephens
So glad that you
will be using some of our songs to
accompany you! Occasionally we do have
to close the store for inventory, or
touring purposes. But bear with us! It
will always be open again in a short
while after it is closed. Please check
back to http://store.blackmoresnight.com/ after
May 1st (next week!) for the latest
merchandise as well as song books!
When will the European tours be announced so we can get our lives organised
around them. We saw you in York last year and when will the DVD be available.
