Hi:
I'm a guy from the north of Spain, Galicia.
A very beautiful place where the landscapes
are fill with water and and forests. I want
to say thanks to you an Richie for your
beautiful music.
I've been through a tough personal moment in
life lately and you really helped me,
bringing a smile in my face, when everything
seemed to be sad.
I go to work every day when still is dark
and, even I know I go to work, it fills me
with some kind of happines and peace being
driving listening "... Shadow of the moon".
It's nice.
I play in a band and in the basement where
we rehearsal I put a photo of you and Jason
Becker (check it out the story of this
beatiful man), and it takes me to a better
place.
Thanks again, and, as a question:
Which is your philosophy in life?, I mean,
what really matters to you.
Maybe this is an ovious one (I read the
lyrics...), but....
Thanks a lot and I hope I see you
someday!!!!
Bye.
Fi
Hello Fi,
It sounds as if you are surrounded by much
beauty and that in itself will help through
hard times if you allow the spirits of the
earth and nature to heal you. If you can
breathe them in, they become a part of your
soul and fulfill you. That is part of my
life philosophy, though I am always open to
learning and absorbing new things. I don't
get caught up in the pettiness that so many
live by. I try to distance myself from
negative emotions like envy or greed and
just appreciate the differences in us all.
Most importantly to me is nature. To never
forget to look up for you will miss
rainbows, shooting stars and sunsets if you
do. Never forget to look down for you will
miss the flowers and the white capped waves
and the forest animals and insects that
share this world and are so fascinating
creating their own. I try never to forget to
listen to the sound of thunder or the wind
rushing through the trees. And when it rains
or snows I always go outside to feel it on
my skin. My dreams and philosophies are
simple...but they complete me. Natures
miracles are around us everyday if we take
the time to see them and experience them.
And once you do you partake in a magic so
much bigger than we are.
Thanks for your question. Stay well,
Love and light,
Candice

Hello dear Candice, You often mention Buckingham Nicks as one of your all-time favourite bands. Fleetwood Mac fans shorten Buckingham Nicks as BN; Blackmore's Night has the same shortening among the fans. Both bands share a similar name structure, consisting of the names of the two main members, and even a similar idea - a loving couple making music together; also you have borrowings from Stevie Nicks in your style. I wonder, is it just a pure coincidence or you did think in the back of your mind about some kind of a connection when you started Blackmore's Night? And one more question, what Buckingham Nicks songs are the most special for you? I hope you had a great time on the road! :) I'm waiting for your coming to Ukraine and believe it will happen very soon! Love, Oksana Hi Oksana, Good questions. I have to be honest- I feel as if although I listen to other bands, like Buckingham Nicks, and am inspired by what they do- I wouldn't think to emulate them in anyway. I know some people may think that because I am a Stevie fan and wear a skirt and have long blonde hair I am trying to imitate- but the truth is that I have always had long blonde hair and worn long flowy skirts and been into the mystcial ...way before I ever heard of Stevie Nicks, just because I was brought up that way. I was raised loving nature, showering in the rain as a child, playing with frogs and fireflies. So my influences on my music and the nature based lyrical content are strictly my own. As you know, I play a lot of medieval instruments and pull on the romantic days of the renaissance where I believe Stevie is more country based with a lot of her songs. I do love what she stands for and her persona and her music- but would never try to imitate her. Its too important to have your own visions. I have met her a couple of times, and met Lindsay once, and they are wonderful people and obviously, incredible artists. I'll be going to see the Fleetwood mac show, once again, when they hit my area next week. Having said that, some of my favorite Buckingham Nicks songs are Frozen Love, Long Distance Winner, I absolutely LOVE Django! Also some of their other songs that are only on demo like Nomad the way it was originally done with just the two of them with those harmonies and acoustic guitar. Thank you for sending me the other song - I thought I had collected them all, but had never heard of this one. Hope to see you on the road... Much love, Candice
Hello Candice, 2-22-08 I just discovered you and your music only yesterday. I was on You Tube looking for old concerts of great guitar players. I am kind of new to the computer age and I'm just finding out all the great things that a computer can do. I'm still a one finger typer so I hope it won't take me forever to type this note to you. Anyway I'm 48 and have been to many great concerts in my life time. I've seen Deep Purple a few times in the early seventies when I was quite young and at the time they were one of my favorite bands. Now back to You Tube I was looking for songs by a band called Renaissance. I've always liked the female singers voice, but I'm not all that familiar with most of thier songs. I really like Carpet of the Sun but I kept having a song going through my head that I didn't know the name of that I thought Renaissance did a cover song for. After a long search without any luck The name of the song just mysteriously popped into my head. Diamonds and Rust. I typed it in and up came this stunning blond from Blackmores Night. It's also kind of a weird coincidence that your band played renaissance type music.(the style not the band). Throughout most of my adult years I'd sort of outgrown Deep Purple and I'd sort of forgotten what a great guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was. I'd always liked playing the keyboards and did some vocals when I was a kid and was drawn to Deep Purple by the Jon Lord keyboards. Anyway sorry I keep getting off track here. I had never heard of Blackmores Night but have heard of Blackmores Rainbow. After clicking on the You Tube of you singing Diamonds and Rust I was in tears. I had just discovered the beautiful song I was looking for sung better than anyone in the world could possibly sing it. I played it over and over and everytime it brought tears to my eyes. There is not too many bands that has this effect on me but when it does It really feels great. I am a huge Pink Floyd fan and have experienced this with some of their music. I am also a big fan of women background singers which the Floyd often use and I'm always blown away by the sound of some women's voices. After listening to you perform that song I have to say that I am truly hooked now on Blackmores Night and I hope that your band will tour the U.S.A. soon and come by upstate N.Y. so that my girlfriend and I can see and hear you all in person. Ritchie is sounding better than ever and you are like the cherry on top of the luscious desert. Such an incredible voice. And very beautiful too. My question is: Are you and Ritchie married,Just a couple, or neither. I hope you don't mind me asking but you two make a great couple and compliment each other very well musically. I feel that I have been reborn to Ritchie's music and I've found my favorite women rock lead vocalist. Best of luck to you all and I hope to see you sometime soon. Take care . Ron
Hello Ron, Wow - thank you for such wonderful compliments. I am so glad that you discovered us and welcome to our musical world of escape. I do love singing Diamonds and Rust...it is one of my favorite moments in concerts. I just feel very closely connected to that song. Funny how that can happen when it is a song that you didn't write yourself. We do hope to play the USA soon. Unfortunately with the economic state being the way it is, our agent has asked us to hold off for a bit. But we are hoping before the end of the year we will be performing here. To answer your question: Ritchie and I met in 1989, moved in his house in Connecticut in 1991, got engaged in 1994 and just got married last year on Oct 5th 2008 at Castle on the Hudson , Tarrytown, NY. We are actually heading back into the studio next week to begin creating again... Thank you for your question! Love and light, Candice
Dear Candy, I wonder if you have a pet name for Ritchie and how you name your husband at home? And does Ritchie pet-name you too? Thank you! Tanya. Dear Tanya, Yes, of course after so many years together we do have pet names for eachother. I call Ritchie "Badger". I don't even really call him by his name anymore- haven't for years! Just shorten it to "Badge" when i'm calling to him. I don't even remember where that started its been so long. Maybe its the fact that badgers are such nasty little creatures.... just kidding. Ritchie's had various nicknames for me over the years. It started with Pussycat...all very normal. We even have our dungeon bar room pub named the Badger and Pussycat on the olde English sign in the entryway. But through the years its changed to Poppet, Parsnip, Pumpernickle, Pumpkin, Poodle...anything cute that starts with a "p" for some unknown reason. Its pretty funny actually. Lately he's been in the "poodle " stage. See how long that lasts... Love and light, Candice
