Hello, Candice!
I'm very happy to have found this website of
yours, and the possibility to tell you, how
I feel about Blackmore's Night. I'm a 20
year old boy from Hungary (so sorry for my
english, if it's bad), and I'm a writer, I
have written many short stories, I'm
completing my first novel and my first
screenplay soon, I also published a
fantasy-story a year ago, with some
hungarian folklore-elements... anyway, your
music has inspired me! When I'm listening to
some of your songs, I feel more creative,
it's like a time-travel, you really bring
some good old feeling to our present. It
helps me so much sometimes, first of all,
when I'm writing fantasy-tales. Easier to
avoid clichés, and easier to write more
about emotional moments, love and
friendship. Your lyrics showed me that
sometimes the simplest moments are the best
moments in our life. And telling tales is
the best profession ever. So, thank you.
First question: is there a chance, that
Blackmore's Night will come to Hungary? Or
maybe to Austria? (Wien is really not far
from my village.)
Second question: I'm currently writing a
screenplay, and I'm learning how to edit
videos, so I'm really interested in
filmmaking too. Of course, I can't see any
chance to work with the legendary
Blackmore's Night, but my question is: have
you never thought of being an actress?
You're really... (can't find the word)
charming, cute... whatever... :-) And the
second part of this question: will
Blackmore's Night do music for a feature
film? Soundtrack or composing themes, any of
this?
So that's it. I'll always love your music
(and struggling with my guitar to play
Possum goes to Prague :-)). Can't wait to
get your newest album. Thanks for reading my
e-mail (I really can't imagine you with a
computer :-))
Love,
Balázs
Hello Balázs,
What a wonderful letter. I'm glad we could
do our bit to bring some inspiration into
your life. And that you are taking that and
creating and bringing it to the next level!
How wonderful!
Yes, there is a good chance that we will
play both Austria and Hungary in 2009. Right
now they are working on the routing of the
tours for next year and I know that both of
those countries have been mentioned as
places to play. Now, if there are available
venues and it works out for the routing all
will be well! But that part is in the hands
of the promoters and agents. Which is why I
am always reluctant to mention certain
countries to tour in before the dates are
actually set. When they are confirmed they
will be on the blackmoresnight.com website
and then there will be no doubts! I am
hopeful, though that we will be in both of
those countries next year.
I actually did some acting as a child-
commercial work and plays. But music took
over in my adult life and now I can be many
of the characters, since they are all a part
of myself anyway, on stage through my music.
However, as far as film work goes, I am cast
to play Emily in a movie called Pray For
Light next year. You can see some
information about it here
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1221883/
and the original title (House of Eternity)
still has its homepage up which is here:
www.houseofeternity.com . I have
also just been approached about a Christmas
movie for next year as well so we'll see how
that goes! Blackmore's Night is available to
do music for feature films. Actually, Pray
For Light will be using some of the
Blackmore's Night music as well as my solo
cd music as the main musical theme.
You're a brave man tackling the musicality
of the Possum track! That's a tricky one....
Good luck with everything!
Love and light,
Candice

Hello Rachel,
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the wedding
photos- it was quite a day!
It is a good question about Mexico! Although
I have yet to hear about any tours there for
us, last year I did go to Mexico with my
friends for a "girls weekend trip" and we
had an amazing time! Here are some photos of
us enjoying your home country!
House of Eternity has changed its title to
Pray For Light and they say that the filming
should begin early next year. I will keep
you updated as soon as things start to
happen.
I'm glad you are enjoying the music and
lyrics and that we could take you to another
time and place... Hope you're enjoying the
ride and don't worry ! In the words of the
Cheshire Cat "We're all crazy here!" You're
in good company... A few
pics from where we were in Mexico
Love and light to you!
Candice
Dear Candice!
I hope you will read my heartiest
congratulations on your long waited wedding!
May you have many more wedding anniversaries
than the 19-year waiting for this magical
moment in time. Good health to you and
Ritchie!
Let your secret voyage go on and on...
Marina from Russia.
P.S. A have a short question for the Between
Us section. What is or are the first
instruments you normally start recording
with in the studio?
Thank you Marina!
The process with the way we work is...
usually Ritchie and I will write a song. he
comes up with the music (on acoustic guitar)
then I with the lyrics of the song. We
compile about 16 or so completed songs
throughout the year and many more ideas that
we can pull on for future use. Then our
producer will come in and wen we go into the
studio we always start with a mapping track.
Vocal and acoustic guitar to a click track.
Then the producer will add synth pads to it.
Percussion is added. After that we flesh out
the instrumental ideas. Does it need shawms?
Strings? Horns? Its all just a process of
seeing how the songs needs to be shaped.
Sometimes we add instruments that we take
out later on because it was the wrong
feeling for the song. One of the last things
to go on the track is the final vocal and
the electric guitars if there are any.
Thanks for your question!
Love,
Candice
Hello Candice.
My name is Karita and I am 16 years old and
from Finnland.
I have been your fan almost 6 years. I find
the CD Ghost of a Rose in my fathers
bookcase by accident. (I like its front
cover) I listened it couple of days and
thought: Yes, this is musik I like! Now Cd
is in my bookcase with five other CDs and
DVD.
Your musik inspire me when I writing my own
stories (a book actually) and I can feel
your joy, when you play it.
I wait you coming to Tampere next summer. It
will be my first time in your concert and I
hope it is memorable. I will wear my
medieval dress. Or I don't know what it is.
Maybe some kind of fantasy dress.
I love your dresses. Especially that what
have green and black colours.
I have one guestion. How can you make so
beautiful words? Do you take some ideas in
nature? I hope I don't be too arrogant...
Best wishes and time when sun shining
brightly for you and Ritchie
Hello Karita,
I am so glad that you happened upon our
music. We do choose the artwork very
carefully for each cd and the one that you
found, Ghost of A Rose, was done by my good
friend Johanna Pieterman. She is a brilliant
artist, living in the Orkney Islands. For
more of her works go to my links page to
find her home page. There is some amazing
artwork there.
Hope you enjoyed the show in Tampare.
I'm glad that you like the lyrics in our
songs. Yes, of course, nature is one of my
main inspirations. It always keeps my in
wonder and in awe. The dimensions of nature
and her simple yet complex beauty is
astounding to me. I lose my breath when
watching fireflies in a field or seeing a
sunset. It is easy to pull writing
inspiration from such pure yet intense
beauty. Tonight, as I write this, it is a
cold winter night. But as evening set in,
the crescent moon was out with Venus and
Jupiter watching over her to her right. I
took out the telescope and could see the
moons of Jupiter shining so very brightly on
either side of her. I didn't even want to
move away from the scope, just to be in the
presence of something so amazing is
incredible to me. Then right before I went
inside the house, a big stage deer came out
of the woods and walked across my front
garden. Nature is always surrounding us and
bringing us the most beautiful moments. Its
just a matter of stopping and seeing them,
or feeling them, around you. I always try to
weave some visuals of nature into my words
in everything I do. But there are other
inspirations. Love, legends, myths and
faerietales, magic... there are stories
waiting to be told all around you. You just
have to discover them.
Thank you for your question.
Love and light,
Candice
Dear Candice,
Welcome back from your Honeymoon in
Aruba....I am sure you and Ritchie had a
fantastic time there.
I would like to ask if your bridesmaid
wearing the claret / burgundy dress is your
sister ?
Thank you.
Diane.
xxx
Hello! Thank you...actually our Aruba trip
was two fold. Not only was it for our escape
but also to be a part of my brothers wedding
on the beach! Many "happily ever afters..."
this year.
The burgundy bridesmaid is not my sister,
but all my bridemaids are "soul sisters"
nonetheless. My true birth sister is the
bridesmaid/maiden of honor/flower girl in
green...
Love and light,
Candice
