"If you have a question for me, enter this room. It exists just for us. A place for you to come to ask me whatever you wish. A chance for us to get closer. Share your thoughts, tell me your story, ask me your questions.  They will be answered."

Hello Candice,
Congratulations and very best Wishes on your marriage.  Oct. is a wonderful time to get married.  I know this first hand as my husband Michael and I were married on 10/9/76.  I have had a passion for Renaissance music since I was a fine arts major in college.  One of my music professors made me aware and it's a love that's grown over the years.  Being someone  of the rock era and having Richie's music being played on the campus and at parties I have always been a rock music lover as well.   I still have piles of rock albums in the basement.  When I learned of Blackmore's night about 4 years ago it was a delightful discovery.  So I have been gathering many of the older cds and of course have been on top of the new releases as they have been made available.  Michael and I attended the concert Halloween eve in '07 in NJ.  I wore a Renaissance gown I had made 25 years ago for a Halloween party and a matching mask with gold trim and feathers.  Our 23 year old son was with us as he is a huge fan and this was his birthday gift.  I love your wedding photos.  When you first sent your wedding announcement to fans there was a photo of you in another white dress quite different from the one you were married in.  It is very Renaissance in style and looks beautiful.  How might I find the photo again?  I can't find it when I go back through your wedding photos.   It was a solo picture of you I believe announcing the wedding and obviously not from that day.  Your wedding dress although quite lovely is much different.   When I got married my bridesmaids wore very Renaissance style gowns that I designed based on 2 styles combined.   I had seen them in a bridal magazine.  We had an anonymous piece of medieval music as we came down the Isle.    Your castle would have been ideal for our wedding as well.  My husband is familiar with the p lace as he works in the corporate world and knows that it is used for business functions.  One more thing on your dresses, I often like them very much.  My husband has often said they look like something I'd wear.  Always loved the assymetrical hemlines.  They were in style back in the 70's and I still have some of those old dresses.  I am not a young woman but have always been very small and I'm pleased  to still be able to wear certain styles.  You must have loved Aruba.  We celebrated our 30th 2 years ago in Jamaica.  Our first time to the Caribbean which really seems silly given how close it is.  We live in NJ.  Our first trip after the honeymoon was to your great nation.  I couldn't get enough of castle hopping at the time. ;-)   And the day we climbed Tintagel there was a ferocious wind!  WE truly thought we'd be blown over the cliffs.   We loved the giant goldfish at Bodiam and "Arthur's" round table at Winchester.    We had always hoped to bring our young boys who are both in college now to see all the great things in the UK.  Our son's tourette syndrome became a huge obstacle as he was growing up so it never happened but we navigate our paths the best we can.  One fine thing that came out of our trip to England was the naming of our second son Derek, who was named for an Innkeeper in Mullion, Cornwall.  Our first son's middle name also has a British connection as it was taken from Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues.   Sorry, I can get pretty verbose so I'll stop now.  Again if I may have another look at that lovely white renaissance dress from the picture please put it back on your web page.

Fondly,  Joan Rosolowsky

Hello Joan,
Thank you for your letter. I think that the white dress you are referring to is the one from the photo from April, correct? Believe it or not, that is just a top, with the asymmetrical lines you speak of;  off the shoulder and bell sleeved. I purchased that in a regular shop here a few years back and bought them in every color that was available here. Since that time I have modeled my own shirts on that style and expanded on the color range and wear them in concert with a corset on top of them and the jagged edged skirts beneath for that extra layer and even more colors. The skirts are made by Silk Cloque and the corsets and tops by Hilary at Fashions in Time.
By the way, Tintagel  seems to always be incredibly windy! I've had that same fierce wind try to blow us over the cliffs whenever we visit there as well. Of course it all adds to the mystery of the place...
Much love to you and your family.
Candice

Dear Candice,

I would like to ask why you and Ritchie chose Aruba for your Honeymoon destination ? Thank you.
Diane.

Hello Diane,
Aruba was where my brother got married the month after I did. He had the beach ceremony and I did the castle ceremony the month prior.
My family had been going to Aruba for many years and he fell in love with the surroundings.
As Ritchie has spent most of his life traveling, it is rare to get him to go somewhere when it is not for touring purposes. He'd much rather be at home. So we combined the celebration of my brothers wedding, in which we were both in the wedding party), with a few extra days there as our honeymoon.
So it served 2 purposes!
Love,
Candice

Dear Candice. I have a question, but first I would like to congratualte you
and Ritchie. The love between you two truely shines within your vocals and
Ritchies playing.
I'm a log time fan of Ritchie through Deep purple and Rainbow. I play
guitar and he has always been a great inspiration to me. With Deep Purple and Rainbow I   always found myself skipping or fast forwarding to my favorite songs. When I listen to Blackmores Nights, I just listen
and every song on every album inspires me to no end. You two compliment
each other so well, I can't even think of a word to describe it. I hope I
can one day express as much feeling in my music. Ok .. so I wanted to ask you how often your lyrics begin as just a short poem? I'm not gifted with a singing voice so I just play  instramenals on my guitar. I wrote something very meaningful to me about a year ago. I'm   often reminded of it when I listen to Ritchie's instramentals. This little poem, even though   I was very sad and
greiving when I wrote it, helps me to believe in a happy time and place
with no end. A true happily ever after where I'll once again embrace those whom I have lost.
............................ Just a thank you to you and Ritchie for
helping to turn a sad time in my life to hope and hppiness! :)

Leigh

Dear Leigh
What a beautiful poem. I have posted it in my Poets page in the Reflections section of this site.
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your poetry with us all.
My lyrics start from many different roots and seeds. Some as an idea, some as a poem years before it is set to music, some as 1 line or word in which a whole song springs when it is ready.
Many times melancholy is the best beginning for a poem or a song. It is an incredible outlet for you to release or delve into your inner feelings and surround them with music.
Keep writing, singing and playing. The world of playing music is for precious few these days and when you have that gift and it fills your soul you must nurture it. It heals...
Much love,
Candice

Dear Candice and Ritchie

I've been a fan since, as the native Americans say..."the Days of the before the before".  I'm the "Dr. Maier" who invented the vinyl record care product Discwasher and owned that copany often using Ritchie's material in demo of the very Hi End audio stuff we had in our import division.  .

Congratulations on your recent formalization of the beauty you've shared for these 2 decades!.

I am still a devout audiophile [worldclass audio system] and often use BMN as demo *LAUGHING* For self and guests. Secret Voyage is absolutely stunning in material, musical execuation and CD/audio quality

Who masters you mateiral into CD format?...It is VERY well done and captures the superb tonal elements of instruments....from drumm cores to cymbals...and Candice..your voice is tranduced beautifully!!  . I always look for the sonic fingerprints of the different mastering labs...and I do not see a credit as to your lab.

When are you playing the USA?

Regards to you, Candice....and  Ritchie.....and your dedicated team of artisans!!.

 Bruce R. Maier

Hello Bruce,
Thanks for your question and professional ear! Actually our cds are mastered by Mastertraxx, they have been mastering for us since the very beginning. I'm sorry if we overlooked crediting them on the cds as they certainly should be mentioned!!
We are looking to play the USA later this year so keep checking the tourdates page on blackmoresnight.com for confirmed shows...
Love and light,
Candice

Dear Candice,
I do have to tell you, that you are truly incredible!!!!!You have a Heavenly voice and
the way you sing is so uplifting and peaceful, you are truly a Goddess with an Angel's voice.I've been a fan of Richie since I heard Rainbow with Dio.With all the talent,Richie is a guitar God,his music is a light in a dark time with your voice that carries us to the dawning of betters days.
I have listened to many different kinds of music but I love your music more than every one else because of that positive energy that just makes every one forget the bad for just a moment and truly enjoy life. Please forgive me but I could go on an on all day but I do have a question, with all the great songs in the past from Rainbow,I wanted to know if you ever thought or did a remake of Temple Of The King, one of the greatest pieces of music in my book, that was ever recorded.I would love to hear you sing that song and since Richie just becomes more incredible with every minute,I can just hear how great the song would be now.
I love your music and hope and wish all of you many days of happiness.
I also see you love poetry,I hope you like this one.
 Brad

Dear Brad,
How nice of you to say those wonderful things. Thank you! Yes, I must say that I am still amazed daily at Ritchie's guitar talents...as are we all I guess.
Actually, occasionally  on stage we do break into Temple of the King when Ritchie is in the mood for it. We haven't yet approached that song to record on a cd, but since we do it on stage it is entirely possible that may be on the cards in the future...
Thank you for your question! And your beautiful poem which can be found on the Poets page on this site...
Love and light,
Candice
